carmina charm #18

Do you know that our soul is composed of harmony?

- Leonardo DaVinci

It's harmony that your soul and mind embraces again when listening to music. As sound surrounds you, only some melodies firmly resonate with you, get an immediate emotional response - whilst their approach is a smooth and soft one, whilst they slowly, carefully but steadily cling to you, these melodies eventually grab you with an intensity and force that overwhelms, that fully absorbs and stirs. It's these very melodies that are in chime with your mind and soul, it's music that leaves an imprint on your being and mesmerizes ... music that charms

XXXVII. Leaning Towers

In The Dark
In The Dark
Impressions
Idyllically inviting melodies and opulent instrumental aesthetics take the listener into the realm of pure emotional bliss and haunting sensual pleasure, london-based songsmith Matt Woods calls his comfort zone. And how very comforting, how seductively stirring his musical metier is! Gracefully engaging and harmoniously bright, 'Leaning Towers' soars into soothing and suspensefully swirling sonic spheres; an ambient soundscape of dreamy depth and dramatically electrifying pulse expands, while cozy tonality cherishes a liaison with soft and soulfully languorous vocalism. As vulnerability, melodic appeal and lyrical sensibility are exposed so genuinely, the singer/songwriter's audience must be eager to delve into a yet another musical opus of his. Hopefully it's no long wait for a debut album then!

XXXVIII. Record Sleeve

Indie rock rookies Mosley Bar kick it off in style with debut single 'Record Sleeve': showcasing Ryan Ward's atmospheric and firm vocals at front, the song exhales youthful and feisty tonal spirit non-stop, allows energetically edgy riffage and vivacious drum reverb to form a dynamic alliance, rhythmically vibrant and thrilling at once.

Admittedly, it's hard to believe that this is the lads' first official release as a band - its adamant confidence and powerful melodic momentum tells differently for sure. And second offering 'The World And I' - boldy infectious and peppy in sound - indicates already what strong and sovereign musicianship is yet to expect from this young group of passionate artists. Hurry up with single No. 3, please!
